“I have a genuine interest in every person’s story and feel like it’s my job to give our clients the power to fight for themselves and their families.”
– Amy Garrett
As assistant managing partner at Simmons Hanly Conroy, Amy Garrett puts her 22 years of litigation experience to work for clients affected by corporate negligence. She has helped the firm obtain billions of dollars in settlement and verdict payouts for clients, including hundreds of millions of dollars for her clients with mesothelioma and other asbestos-related cancers.
“Helping give people facing a terminal diagnosis some peace of mind makes every day as a lawyer worthwhile. I still correspond with former clients, and nothing brings me greater satisfaction than when I hear the firm’s work allowed the family to stay afloat, pay for their kids’ college, and continue to lead some of the life they had intended before mesothelioma.”
Some of Amy’s career highlights include:
As a team leader and experienced litigator, Amy helps attorneys in the asbestos and complex litigation departments prepare cases for trial.
“Even though we are a large firm, I pride myself on the personal attention we give to each and every client. Our size is an advantage for our clients because we have vast collective legal experience helping people harmed by asbestos exposure and other corporate wrongdoing.”
Amy has given back to her community throughout her career. Notably, she is a founder of Simmons Hanly Conroy’s official pro bono program and was fundamental in other firm initiatives that have helped people expunge minor criminal charges from their records and restore their driving privileges, so they could access jobs and affordable housing.
Amy earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois-Champaign/Urbana. She then graduated from Washington University School of Law in 1998.
Amy is a member of the firm’s executive committee and leads its diversity inclusion efforts.
