By filing a lawsuit, you can pursue financial compensation and justice from those who caused you or a loved one harm.
Understanding Roblox Lawsuits & Child Exploitation
Roblox is a popular online gaming platform with millions of young users, including many under the age of 13. While it offers creative and social opportunities, predators have used the platform’s features to groom and exploit children.
Lawsuits claim Roblox failed to protect minors, even though the company knew the platform was being misused. As a result, predators were allegedly able to contact children, build trust, and encourage them to share explicit images or meet in person in some cases.
Roblox lawsuits claim that the company:
- Failed to prevent young children from creating accounts with fake birthdates, granting them full access to direct-messaging features
- Enabled predators to use Roblox’s virtual currency, “Robux,” as bait to lure and control children
- Permitted inappropriate content in games, even in spaces marketed as family-friendly
- Previously used default settings that allowed adults to message and “friend” children of any age
- Supported off-platform communication with apps like Discord®, allowing sexual predators to continue contact undetected
“In reality, and as Defendants well know, the design of their apps makes children easy prey for pedophiles. They allow adult users to identify and readily initiate conversations with children, then manipulate the trust of those children.”

Who Can File a Roblox Lawsuit in 2025?
Some families have taken legal action against Roblox and Discord, claiming that the platforms lack sufficient safety measures to protect young users from predatory behavior. Roblox lawsuits not only seek compensation, but also corporate accountability and stronger safeguards.
You may be able to file a Roblox civil sexual abuse lawsuit if your child was:
- Contacted and groomed by an adult through the platform
- Manipulated into sharing explicit images or videos
- Sexually assaulted or abused after meeting up with someone from the platform
Children harmed online may show signs like mood swings, secrecy, withdrawal from loved ones, or sudden changes in behavior.
A lawsuit against Roblox or Discord may provide justice and financial support for the toll of abuse, including costs related to therapy and recovery. However, families only have a limited amount of time to take action due to laws called statutes of limitations.

Roblox Lawsuit Update 2025
Dating back to 2019, criminal investigations have discovered that sexual predators groomed children, ranging from 8-14 years old, through the Roblox platform and then abused, assaulted, or traded sexual content with them.
Families whose children were harmed through Roblox may be able to pursue justice and compensation by filing a civil sexual abuse lawsuit against the company.
Texas Family Files Roblox and Discord Lawsuit After Child’s Assault
In April 2025, a federal lawsuit was filed in Galveston, Texas, claiming Roblox and Discord failed to protect a 13-year-old girl who was sexually assaulted by an alleged predator she met through the platforms.
The girl’s mother said she used parental controls and had disabled certain chat features, but the man was still able to contact, groom, and exploit her. The predator eventually entered the family’s home and recorded the assault, according to the lawsuit.
The young girl now lives with deep emotional trauma. Once a bright and artistic student, she now struggles with fear and a lost sense of safety.
Roblox & Discord Interactions Lead to Child’s Abduction and Abuse
In April 2025, a California man was arrested for allegedly abducting a 10-year-old girl he met through Roblox and Discord. Authorities say the child was taken more than 250 miles from home after being contacted on the platforms.
The 27-year-old man was taken into custody and is facing charges of kidnapping and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.
In a news release, the Kern County sheriff’s office warned families about the growing risks of online predators using messaging apps and video gaming platforms to target children.
Roblox Lawsuit: Platform a “Hunting Ground for Child Sex Predators”
A lawsuit filed in February 2025 in San Mateo County, California, claims Roblox and Discord enabled the grooming and sexual exploitation of a 13-year-old boy. Roblox “provides a hunting ground for child sex predators,” according to the complaint.
The predator, later identified as a 27-year-old man, allegedly used the Discord and Roblox platforms to pose as a peer, build trust, and coerce the child into sending explicit images and videos. The boy’s parents say they only discovered the abuse after it was too late.
The lawsuit claims Roblox was the predator’s point of entry, with Discord used to escalate the exploitation. Both companies are accused of failing to protect young users from foreseeable harm.
